Week 4 : Fandango a go + eBay is a no-go

Week 4: Two sites that I use regularly are Fandango and eBay. Even though I use them, they both aren't great. GOOD UX: Fandango is straight forward, nice looking and helps choose the theatre for you. You can look ahead and look forward to new movies coming out near you. It only takes 2 or 3 steps to buy the tickets, choose your seat, and pay. BAD UX: eBay is an app that I use to find specific items that are either sold out or discontinued. However, they do a few annoying things on their site that I despise. First, they have a few rows of recently viewed items. I'm sure they think this is great but I always think about what if I search for something embarrassing and then it'll always be displayed. Second, if you aren't searching for a specific item, it is tough to navigate with so many "vertical" product categories. I use the eBay app with efficiency, I get in and get out.

Week 3 : Paypal is awesome + MS Word isn't awesome

Week 3: GOOD UX: Paypal I use Paypal constantly for work. It is very clear, intuitive, and communicative. For example, I sold a few items on eBay this week. Once I received their payment, Paypal notified me that those funds aren't actually available to me until they receive my product. Since they let me know that clearly, it was not a problem, made sense, and I had no stress about getting paid. However, without their great communication experience, I would have been stressed out and probably emailed them asking why my money isn't available to be transferred out yet. BAD UX: Microsoft Word It seems to me that many of Microsoft's software, especially Word, have very unintuitive UX. The menus use small symbols and the most commonly needed functions are tough to find. I can't wait for someone to design a better standardly used software.

Week 2 : Two Dots a hit + The Stoic is basic

Week 2: Good UXD: This week I started playing a new game called Two Dots. It isn't even that great of a game but it feels good to play. The design is based on circles, there is only one action per screen, and there is a lot of clear space. Bad UXD: There is an app that I like called The Stoic because you can read neat quotes about Stoicism. However, the app is pretty ugly. I'm not sure if it is the type, random type sizes, or Google ads that make it feel odd. It may come down to bad UI more than UX, but that brings up the question... does bad UI ensure bad UX? I've attached screenshots.
